EuWe Group opts for Portolan

“Think ahead, act for the future”

It's the guiding principle of EuWe Eugen Wexler GmbH & Co. KG, a medium-sized, owner-operated automotive supplier in the plastics processing sector that is based in Nuremberg. With 1,720 highly-qualified employees, the company generates a turnover of EUR 180 million per year. The latter is only possible with an engaged and motivated team. The basis for success also builds upon a modern and flexible software solution.

blog euwe wexlerTheir previously used accounting solution had reached its limits with the continually growing demands of the company. Thus, EuWe Eugen Wexler began the search for a new, sustainable software solution. A decision was made on the Portolan EVM accounting solution. The solution meets the requirements on legal and business criteria – both at a national and international level. A requirement to implement the software solution at the Rokycany site was guaranteed local support in Czech, a requirement that Portolan can fully meet with its local contacts.

Through close cooperation between EuWe Eugen Wexler, Portolan and its Czech partner OSG Plzen, a fast and professional implementation of Portolan EVM was carried out on-site in the Czech Republic. This replaced the old system, Soft-M, in financial and assets accounting. Using the Portolan standard interface with the ERP solution Infor XPPS, master and transaction data are set up in the financial solution and guarantee an automated process.

After the successful project at the Czech site, the implementation of Portolan EVM at the EuWe Group's main site in Germany began in March of this year. The outdated DKS financial solution was replaced first. After the EVM financial and assets accounting go-live, the project team has set further milestones. With the enhanced set-up of XPPS integration, the controlling and reporting system's interplay with XPPS will become more standardised and will be expanded for the EuWe Group. The expected synergies mean that additional business processes can be automated in the future. For this reason, the implementation of the credits process is also planned: the goal is to collect credits without manual intervention.

The growth-oriented EuWe Group is opening another site in 2017, in Williamston SC, USA. Portolan accounting software will be introduced here as well. In Portolan, the company has found a software partner that can cover all of the company's international locations and thereby create a uniform software environment with group-wide standardised processes.
