Haberkorn went live in Eastern European facilities

The family company Haberkorn GmbH - as one of Austria’s largest distributor of technical products - has been relying on Portolan’s EVM accounting software on IBM i / AS 400 for many years.

blog haberkornIn 2014, two Hungarian locations of the Haberkorn group went live additionally with Portolan’s financial and asset accounting software. The Haberkorn group provides its clients in the industrial- and construction sectors with personal protection equipment, lubricants and technical products, such as machine components, industrial hoses and hydraulics.

The group’s headquarter is situated in Austria and has locations in eight other European countries. In 2014, the two Hungarian locations Haberkorn Kft und die Fairtool Kft went live with Portolan EVM. At Haberkorn, the objectives in terms of financial areas are clearly defined: The internationally acting company attaches prime importance on the harmonization and alignment of financial structures of the various locations.

Portolan EVM accounting software which is available in 17 languages and 25 country versions meets these requirements in every regard. Portolan EVM accounting software has been used successfully at Haberkorn’s headquarter in Wolfurt, Austria for many years. In addition, the software solution has been implemented at Haberkorn in Slovenia two years ago. The availability of Hungarian language- and country versions as well as Portolan’s extensive experience in international projects were the key factors in Haberkorn’s decision to implement Portolan EVM at its Hungarian locations Haberkorn Kft und die Fairtool Kft in 2014. Portolan EVM went live at Haberkorn Kft on 1st January 2014 and at Fairtool Kft on 1st May 2014. Mr. Lajos Göndör, managing director of Haberkorn Hungary says: “We’ve not only introduced a new IT system but also a new functional model based on uniform and specialized processes – in this way we succeeded in eliminating a lot of ineffective working methods.”

The deep integration and harmonization of Portolan EVM in connection with ERP system Infor AS had a very special significance in terms of the software conversion, too. Here, the master data from each country-specific front-end system could be easily migrated to the new system. By implementing Portolan EVM at its Hungarian locations, Haberkorn has reached its targets to standardize the software landscape, to save time in month-end closings and to improve consolidation opportunities within the Haberkorn Group.

Joachim Pichler, IT project manager at Haberkorn Wolfurt sums up: “It was a big challenge to integrate two different enterprises in a foreign country and with a foreign language to our company group. Thanks to the effective support of the Portolan project team and together with the employees of Haberkorn Hungary and Faitool as well as our third-party partners we had a very successful start.”
