Enhancements in the DCW report generator

Did you already know?

We have added several interesting functions to the DCW report generator in recent months. You were already able to analyse your data very flexibly in DCW using the report generator. Whether from accounting (balance report) or from cost accounting (report), the possibilities were many and varied. We have now added the following points for you:

Rotating balance

A proper balance sheet could not previously be created from the report generator because the rotating balance function was not available. You can use this function in the account sheet and thus in the “Print profit and loss account” programme to ensure that a balance sheet account, e.g. a bank account, is exceptionally output on the liabilities side of the balance sheet if the balance is negative. We have now also created this option in the report generator.  As usual in DCW, this is controlled via tables, in this case via K2000 and the new table K2005, in which the accounts concerned must be entered. It goes without saying that this function is only available in the balance report.

Display clients side by side

Previously it was possible to create cross-client reports, but a comparison of the values in the individual clients was only ever possible at row level. Now you can use the K2000 and K2006 tables to define reports in which the values of clients are displayed in columns, i.e. side by side. On the other hand, this also means that only one value can be used and displayed for the comparison, e.g. the actual figures for the current month or year.

Cross-client reports despite client-specific report assignments

It can happen that different clients have different charts of accounts and for this reason the report assignments in these clients are also different. This meant that it was previously impossible for these clients to be analysed together in one report. We have now added a new report feature in table K2000 and adapted the programmes so that a cross-client report is possible even if the report assignments have different references. This means, for example, that account 280000 can be assigned to line 010 in one client and to line 020 in another client. The prerequisite is, of course, that the row table is defined in a standardised way.

How can you use these functions?

The rotating balance was delivered in January 2023, the two cross-client functions in August 2024. As soon as you have installed a corresponding DCW version, you can use the functions. Of course, the DCW team at Portolan CS is available to support you. Please do not hesitate to contact us. We are happy to help!
