The DCW address match code

Did you know?

When searching for debtors or creditors in DCW, you can use various elements of an address. In addition to the name/search term, you can also use the city and street of the business partner. First names can also be included, and names with multiple words can be used.

How is the address matchcode structured?

The classic matchcode consists of three elements: name, city, and street.
These three elements are separated by a space. The city and street are optional. You decide how many letters to enter.

Example:
Portolan Commerce Solutions GmbH
Ferdinand-Braun-Str. 16/1
74074 Heilbronn

You can find this address (alongside others, if applicable) with the following entries, for example:

portolan
port heilbr
por hei fer
p h f

What if I only know parts of the address?

The elements name and location can also be replaced by a ? (question mark). The system will then determine all addresses for the specified data without taking the respective element into account.
With “? Heilbronn” you will get all addresses in Heilbronn, with “po ? ferd” all addresses whose name begins with po and whose street begins with ferd.

How do I search for elements that consist of several words?

If place or street names consist of several words and are not connected by a hyphen (e.g., Bad Homburg or Straße des 17. Juni), there are two options: You can simply omit the space (e.g., badhomb) or put the element in parentheses (e.g., (Straße des)).
This method with parentheses can also be used for company names, but the method of omitting the space can only be used if the search term also contains the words.

How can first names be included in the search?

When searching a large number of personal addresses, it is helpful to also search by first name. The matchcode search allows you to enter the last name and first name separated by a comma. For example, you can find a person named Katja Müller by searching for “müller, katja” or “mü, ka” (a space after the comma is allowed). After the first name, you can then narrow down the search to the city and street, separated by spaces.

Another tip

The address match code is also explained in detail in the user help. In a field where you can enter an account or address, press the F1 key and remember that you can use the Tab key to position yourself on terms marked in yellow and then press the Enter key to display further explanations.
