DCW financial software on the IBM i
DCW has been one of the premium financial solutions on the IBM i (formerly AS/400) since its first introduction in 1982.
Since April 1, 2024, Portolan has taken over the maintenance and support of the software in coordination with the All For One Group. This ensures the long-term support of the software.
Heillbronn, 18.03.2024. Effective April 1, 2024, Portolan Commerce Solutions will take over the management of the DCW software and the associated team of developers and consultants from the All for One Group. Both companies have signed an agreement to this effect. The DCW software was developed in 1982 by SAP co-founder Dr. Claus Wellenreuther and is still a highly functional and respected solution for financial accounting and enterprise resource planning on the IBM i.
With Portolan, a company with many years of IBM experience is now taking over the support of DCW customers. The medium-sized software company based in Heilbronn has been developing its own financial solutions on the IBM i (formerly AS/400) since 1990 and supports customers worldwide. The IBM i platform is a strategic choice for Portolan. “Portolan has been developing and selling commercial solutions on the IBM i (formerly AS/400) for 34 years. With the DCW solution, our financial systems are among the premium financial products on this computer. With the addition of the DCW team from All for One, both products are now even better – in the interests of our long-standing, satisfied customers. And that will remain the case for a very long time to come,” says Joachim Nürk, owner of Portolan Commerce Solutions GmbH.
All for One and Portolan can look back on a long-standing partnership. In 2014, Portolan handed over its customers on the SAP solution “Business ByDesign” to All for One for strategic reasons. “We know and value Portolan as a trustworthy and competent partner with a high level of IBM expertise. The DCW division fits perfectly into the Portolan landscape,” adds Stefan Land, CFO of All for One Group SE.
Both parties expect this agreement to provide optimum support for DCW users. Portolan will not only cover support, troubleshooting and adaptation to legal changes. The team consisting of former DCW employees from All for One and Portolan employees can combine the best practices from both product worlds and integrate additional solutions in a meaningful way. In this way, the DCW product will continue to exist for a long time to come and long-term customer support will be guaranteed.
